What is the cloudocalypse?
Cloudocalypse is ususally defined as a catastrophic failure of a cloud (let’s leave cloud definition aside for now).
How catastrophic is up to your imagination – it can be anything from your gmail not working for a few days to total collapse of western civilization. There have been several cases of a small cloudocalypse already, but either the impact was small or the duration was short.
Oddly enough, the ancient greek ending -calypse literally means concealed, veiled, hidden or even “cloud covered”. (And the apo- prefix means from/take away, so apocalypse is basically a removal of a veil, re-velation.) But as in Irangate or the current VW Dieselgate, new words are not created in a linguistically logical manner.
